Anyone can hit, and almost anyone can teach hitting mechanics. There is only one simple movement in the swing to be taught and once it is understood by the instructor (not many actually know the movement), then most anyone can hit and/or teach hitting. However, pitching is a different story. There are so many movements involved in a properly thrown ball that they cannot all be described in a single session of bullpen work.

Our pitching mechanics classes were developed and are continually evolving to reinforce the fundamentals of throwing a baseball. When proper throwing mechanics are understood and are properly achieved by the athlete, then and only then are pitching specific mechanics taught.

To eliminate guesswork, we use simple video software and analysis to help describe the complexities of the throwing motion from the mound. Dynamic balance and loading/unloading processes are very hard to see with the untrained eye and can easily be shown to the athlete using video.

I could continue giving you information on pitching biomechanics and teaching techniques, but it would take many more words and too much of your time. Besides, I may not be eloquent enough to paint the proper pictures in your mind. JUST KNOW THIS, I/we care about your son's arm and aim to teach a sound, comprehensive approach individualized to each athlete. This in turn will help them improve velocity, command, movement, secondary pitches and so on. We will teach arm care and recovery techniques that will last a career.

Immediate results will be seen, but it will take some time and training to properly understand all there is to know about good pitching mechanics. And by that time, new research will show us more improved techniques on how to pitch and how to teach pitching. In other words, it will never end. :)

HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK US (OR YOUR CURRENT INSTRUCTOR)
DYNAMIC PITCHING MECHANICS QUESTIONS TO ENSURE YOUR SON'S PITCHING SUCCESS:

* WHEN WE LAND WITH OUR FRONT FOOT PRIOR TO RELEASING THE BASEBALL, DO WE LAND WITH OUR TRUNK BACK OR FORWARD?

* AS WE VIEW THE PITCHERS LANDING FROM THE FRONT ANGLE, SHOULD HIS FRONT KNEE BE RIGHT OVER HIS ANKLE, INSIDE THE ANKLE, OR OUTSIDE THE ANKLE FOR MAXIMUM STABILITY, CONTROL, AND VELOCITY?

* DO WE NEED STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN POSTURE OR ANGLED POSTURE IN OUR APPROACH TO BALL RELEASE?

* WHERE SHOULD OUR THROWING ELBOW BE IN RELATION TO OUR THROWING SHOULDER UPON THE FRONT FOOT LANDING FOR MAXIMUM HEALTH OF THE ARM, ACCURATE CONTROL, AND MAX VELOCITY.

* DOES BODY ALIGNMENT AFFECT VELOCITY AND CONTROL?

Pitching and/or even throwing a baseball is one of the more difficult techniques to teach. I'd go so far as to say it is the most difficult skill to master in all of sports (besides the golf swing!).
